NASS Leadership & Advocacy Conference

Event Information

The National Association of School Superintendents believes that the future of America starts with its students.

As educational leaders, we have a responsibility to advocate for students nationwide at the highest levels of government, and to ensure that those who govern education law do so with a full picture of our successes and challenges. We recognize that we have the ability to move mountains on behalf of our students, and an obligation to advocate on their behalf.

As education leaders, we can help the faces of the future move their dreams forward at the policy level – because if we want to change the world, we must #StartWithStudents.

This year, the 3rd annual NASS Leadership and Advocacy conference will focus on the key issue areas of DACA and immigration, school safety, the Higher Education Act, as well as the federal budget.

Attendees will hear from key speakers such as Ty Matsdorf, who recently served as Director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s independent expenditure, where he was responsible for developing and executing an $80 million paid communication campaign in 31 congressional districts across the country. Ty was also responsible for running the Democratic War Room during the passage of the Affordable Care Act.

Also speaking will be John Ashbrook, a founding partner of Cavalry, LLC. Ashbrook is a public affairs strategist with expertise in messaging who has provided strategic guidance to leaders at the highest levels. Over the last decade John has served in senior roles on Capitol Hill, most recently as the Staff Director of the Senate Republican Communications Center.
