Assessment, Teaching & Learning

NWEA started in 1973 as a joint venture of representatives from Pacific Northwest school districts with the purpose of building high-quality assessment systems for use in K – 12 education. We became an incorporated not-for-profit organization in 1977 in Oregon. We have a solid foundation and years of experience providing educators with helpful information to measure student growth, grade-level proficiency, and college and career readiness to inform instruction and help students learn and succeed. Recognizing that educators need insight into student progress relative to grade-level expectations and growth data to best serve the needs of every student, NWEA has created a dedicated State Solutions team. Our mission—Partnering to help all kids learn®—reflects our experience and drives all that we do.
