Today, Governor Jerry Brown released the May Revision to the 2018-19 State Budget. Just like recent reports indicated the state’s revenues were above projections by several billion dollars, the May Revision reflects higher revenue estimates of $8 billion through 2018-19 compared to the January budget.

In the past few weeks, Congress finalized the FY18 budget and proposed FY19 budget, including proposals that continue to pursue wide-ranging cuts in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

To meet the January 10 constitutional deadline, today Governor Jerry Brown released his January Budget Proposal for the 2018-19 fiscal year, effectively ending speculations of the Administration’s revenue projections and priorities for the governor’s last year in office.

Just in time to meet the constitutional deadline, on June 15th the California Legislature adopted a state spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year. Governor Brown now has 12 working days to sign the budget.

As anticipated, the Budget Conference Committee completed its budget deliberations and reached a compromise on the 2017-18 state budget Thursday evening.
