State Board of Education Appoints ACSA Leader to Vacant Position

On Friday, March 10, Governor Brown’s office announced appointments to the State Board of Education. I am excited to share that one of ACSA’s very own, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Karen Valdes from Menifee UESD and ACSA Region 19 President, was appointed to the Board to complete a term through January 2019. Over the past year, Karen has lent her expertise to the California Practitioners Advisory Group, a body responsible for advising the Board on state and federal accountability issues.
In addition to having former school administrator Dr. Ilene Straus re-appointed to the Board, Karen will be a great voice on behalf of students and administrators across the state. Congratulations to Karen! A full press release can be found on the Governor’s website.
